Super excited about the ArtSide on the Divide program. A partnership between the Montana Wilderness Association and the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest with the goal 'to promote a deeper appreciation of the natural, cultural, and historical resources of the Continental Divide ecosystem and adjacent open spaces in our national forests'.
Lucky me gets packed in to the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness in Southwest Montana, to spend time making mosaics plein air style (I think that's a thing). I have a few weeks to pore over maps, double check my backpacking gear and write copious lists. And learn some geology too! All of us at McPhie Cabinetry on E Main will be around for tonights ArtWalk. Stop by for a drink & a peek into my studio!
This beautiful work by Ewan Collins was permanently installed around a fireplace sometime in 1998. When the house was demolished some of the mosaic work was able to be salvaged. With some repairs it will continue to be enjoyed in another house or three.
