Photos from the ArtSide project in no particular order.
I was well prepared with 12 days of food and art supplies. The bear boxes were especially appreciated. They make camping in the mountains much easier.
The Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness area in south west Montana might be small but it truly encompasses some beautiful country. Peaks of 12000 feet, high lakes and some good wildlife habitat.
Upper Seymour Lake is a great place for a camp. Whitebark pine and beargrass, red squirrels and Clarks Nutcrackers. Very moody in early September, many hours were spent watching, checking and wondering as the weather changed and the wind blew.
Camp coffee, late season colour on Goat Flat, lichen rocks that match my shoes and cool water.
Carry the mule. Super sweet, he lives up to his name and doesn't complain much.
Scenes from the trail and Mount Tiny scrambling.

ArtSide on the Divide

Super excited about the ArtSide on the Divide program. A partnership between the Montana Wilderness Association and the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest  with the goal 'to promote a deeper appreciation of the natural, cultural, and historical resources of the Continental Divide ecosystem and adjacent open spaces in our national forests'.
Lucky me gets packed in to the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness in Southwest Montana, to spend time making mosaics plein air style (I think that's a thing). I have a few weeks to pore over maps, double check my backpacking gear and write copious lists.
And learn some geology too!
